About Us

About Us.

We're working to measure and improve health outcomes for prostate cancer patients

The Centre for Health Outcomes Measures New Zealand (CHOMNZ), is a charitable trust established in 2015 with a focus on monitoring and improving the health outcomes of patients throughout the country.

CHOMNZ are based at Forte Health in Christchurch, New Zealand.  Our current area of focus is prostate cancer. We have set up and manage the NZ Prostate Cancer Outcome Registry (PCOR-NZ) on behalf of the clinicians and hospitals working in prostate cancer care in Aotearoa.  We also contribute to the  Prostate Cancer Outcomes Registry – Australia and New Zealand (PCOR-ANZ) which has been developed in collaboration with the Movember Foundation and Monash University.  This allows NZ data to be benchmarked against our Australian peers, You can read more about the work here.

Prostate cancer is the commonest and most expensive cancer in Aotearoa New Zealand, with the longest overall survivorship. Our whole urological community, patients and whanau, the health care system and the doctors diagnosing and treating prostate cancer benefit from the Movember funded Prostate cancer registry. The registry provides a comprehensive and regularly updated picture of prostate cancer across the motu, allowing advocacy for better care, insight into any inequity and promotes improvement in men’s prostate cancer outcomes.
